02.08.2023 – Meet Motti … & Friends
With Motti and Friends (Murmeli & Co) I will relaunch another comic project. These are short animal funnies featuring simple line art. So I hope to produce comics more regularly than when I worked on the extensive maritime art. – As long as I still have to set priorities for other projects.
Motti is a typical marmot. Lovable, comfortable but also a bit crazy. His partners in the strips are (Sir) Baldwin lobbit, a lop rabbit and Dragonette, a Pygmy Dragon.
Last summer I spontaneously published a finished strip with Motti’s version of “Rapunzel” on myComics.de. It was very well received, even if it wasn’t a hit.
When making my plans for 2023, I remembered this and also that I had already collected quite a number of ideas for further production, in addition to a handful of finished strips.
So in January, without hesitation, I coloured and layouted the start page for the series.
It went online at myComics.de on 13 January, shortly before our trip. This was combined with an entry for a competition on the portal.
Although Murmeli and Co were not selected for the final round of the competition, the one-pager was well received by the users. In less than 4 weeks, it has received almost 750 hits and has been at the top of the most-viewed comics for 6 days.
The English versions of the strips are in the pipeline. But it may take a while until this work is finished. Until then, just have a look at the German versions. 🙂
